A Dreamer's Hideaway

Bad bad bad Ulla…

I guess I should put on a reminder to remind me that I, in fact, have a blog that should be updated every now and then. Haha.

Life goes on as always. Living, learning and all. University seems to be coming to its end, finally. Master’s Thesis is under a massive writing project and I truly hope to finish it and all my studies come next summer. Still working part-time at a local market but I’ve also received some substitutions for nearby schools which is good and helps me get myself noticed for the future job markets.

Living alone with ze dog since last January and it suits me quite well. I’ve taken up working out more seriously again. Working out about four times a week and I think I’m able to see some results already. I hired a personal trainer to boost up my work-outs and lash me a bit further, so far going very well and I feel good :)

Now time to pack up the gear and head for the gym, time to squat like never before!

Why do I keep forgetting to update?!

Answer: I’m a lazy bastard. Excuse me for that :) Well, I’m here again!

My life is going smoothly. Still living and studying in Jyväskylä. About to FINALLY finish my Bachelor’s thesis and then have my degree. Otherwise, I’m in the middle of my teacher training right now. My first victims will be a class of last year high school students. We’ll see how that goes, hopefully well, because I’m wanting to do my two-week training period in a high school in Haapajärvi, my home town.

I have a lot of stuff happening in October. Tomorrow it is the day of Kauppakadun Appro, which means that students in Jyväskylä try to earn a degree in drinking. Sounds like a lot of fun, I know! This year I’ll be earning my third degree but I can’t stop there. After Laudatur (which is this year) I will earn the degree of Doctor and the last degree is Über Doctor. Haha, that one’s a must! A week after, I’ll be going on a cruise with other gym rats, should be fun as always. And a week after that my dear dear friend will land from Helsinki to Jyväskylä with two other friends - and we shall rock Jyväskylä! It won’t know what hit it.. muhahaa! *evil laughter*

So that’s it for now. I promise to TRY to update this more often. Yeah, we’ll see how that goes. Miss you all, take care, stay safe and remember to live on the edge!

A Happy Hamster named Ulla!!

I’m so HAPPY!!!! Oh my gosh, I’ve had a LOT on my mind lately and one of them has been some unfinished school work. Today I pulled my sh** together and went to talk to one of my professors, asking if he would still let me try and pass the course by writing the final essay I never wrote. He said it was perfectly fine and that I should not stress so much! What an adorable man he is :)

Next up, I bump into my Italian professor who I have been trying to avoid for the last two years because I didn’t pass one of the super difficult grammar exams. He asks how I’m doing and that he hasn’t seen me and was wonderin if there was still something missing from my Italian minor studies.. I told him about the grammar exam and he says I could still do it. “But I already tried twice!!”… “Well, try for the THIRD time!!” Haha, such a sweet old man. I guess I’ll study some old Italian grammar and pass that exam! I shall conquer the world of Italian again!! :D

After that I went to our English amanuensis to talk about if she would like to write me some sort of a statement about how I will graduate as a Bachelor of Human Sciences, English as my major, before next Fall. This I need because I’m applying for Tampere University and for the Master’s Programme but I’m not a Bachelor YET. So she said she’d be very happy to write this statement for me and help me with my future plans. I love her for doing this for me! :)

And finally. This is one of the greatest things to happen to me for a long time. My employer’s insurance company called me. As some of you know, I had an accident in November while riding my bike from work to home. A car tried to drive over me, so I fell on the ground and tore something from my right shoulder. The car didn’t stop and the police never caught the guy, because I didn’t get his licence plate number. I was on a sick leave from work and got some painkillers. That’s it. No one wanted to do anything to help me, my employer was trying to avoid their responsibility, then I traveled to US so I didn’t do anything and when I got back to Finland I started tkaing care of business again. And then FINALLY, after almost four months.. Today. They call me and tell me they have written a certificate that says I’m allowed to go to a private doctor to get all the tests and treatment I need. I am so happy! My shoulder has been giving me so much crap I can’t put up with it anymore. But now, I’m so happy I could cry. Or as we Finns say, I’m so happy I could even pee honey :D Haha.

So this is my stuff for now, I am SO SO SO grateful for everything what is going on in my life right now :)

Love you all, miss you all.

xoxo

Oooops…

I have utterly forgotten to update me tumblr… Well here goes some update!

For those who think I have buried my plan about the acting school, worry not my friends. It is still there. I’m applying next Spring. Definitely. And before that I wanna do some theater as a freetime thing. Very excited about that, yes! :) And now I have someone physically having my back and supporting me to the fullest, really giving me the extra ‘umph’ to achieve my dreams!

Otherwise uni is pretty much killing me. In about two weeks I should be handing in my first draft of my bachelor’s thesis and it is not NEARLY in the finishing line.. Jesus, Lord, God Almighty, Allah, Dalai Lama, Madonna and the ghost of Michael Jackson, I’m praying for your guidance and all that jazz!!! :D

I also started working again. I’m working 2-4 nights a week at the fish/meat market. Fun stuff, fun people to work with, good money. So finance-wise I’m going to a better direction! Yay.

The Sprrrrring is finally getting to Finland. It’s been a long and ass-freezing winter, lots of snow! And now, the sun is here, God bless! And it is soooo warm and nice. I mean not Indiana warm (I remember getting sunburned in February bc I was chillin at the fountain for too long - we Finns don’t talk about sunblock in Feb..) but warm, and that’s just effing fantastic!

The upcoming summer I’ll prolly be traveling to Czech Republic, so I guess I’ll be seeing Garry there! YES!!! Fantastic. I’ve been missing a lot of people lately, prolly bc it’s spring time.. Imane is among the people I’ve missed the most, because we didn’t get to see each other around Christmas time, eventho we had planned something.. dang it, gurl. I miss you!

Ok, it’s Sunday and Monday is sneaking from behind.. it’s an ambush! I have to study… :) Lots and lots of love to y’all!

Sleep Talkin' Man.

flickflickflicker:

this is so much fun to read.

Life teaches you a bunch of lessons…

..and sometimes uses the stick to make it clear.

I’ve been down lately, due to several things which some of you know. Right now the biggest issue is my shoulder which is giving me shit right now (sorry Mama B) and I’ve been calling to doctors, insurance companies and I still have to call my former employer to find out about their insurance policy since all this happened when I was on my way to home from work.

So now my right hand is going numb pretty often, which is not cool as you can imagine. But I will survive, I guess it’s a pinched nerve or something like that. Hopefully. I do not want to go thru surgery or heavy medication or anything. I’ll see an effin witchdoctor if I have to ;)

School started and I’m pretty happy about it. My classes seem to be cool and I should be able to manage my stuff. I’ll be über busy but hopefully everything will go as planned. Candidate’s thesis coming out slowly but maybe somehow surely.

This weekend I’ll be going home to see my parents. Haven’t seen them since I got back from my travels. I will also be bringing my dachshund Urho back home. That should be interesting, no more leaving clothes or pretty much ANYTHING on the floors… Otherwise especially bras and other underwear will become nothing but funny tasting chew toys. Yes, my dog is disgusting. Horribly so! Haha.

But now, time to do some translating I promised to do for a friend of mine… she’s working on her thesis-of-a-sort and needs translation with some articles so I’m helping her out a bit… Yay me.

My Family.

Oooooh yes. Yes I can see ya… ;)

Running thru the ISU fountain. Well… sort of…

The time flies when…

I’ve been having tons of fun being back here in the US. It feels like I was only away for like two weeks. All the familiar faces coming to me, talking to me… wow. Weird actually, but weird good :) I’m happy. I spent an amazing Christmas in Indianapolis with the Morris family. Tons of movies, tons of good food (thank you so much for the lusikkaleivät, Mama) and ultimate relaxation. So good.

And now I’m back in Terre Haute, waiting for the New Year, which I will probably spend with the ISU Track and Field team. Well, at least I was kinda invited so.. Hah, I’m going and will have super fun :)

I can’t believe it’s been two weeks already since I came here. But hey, there’s still two more weeks left!
